The Tax Assessor's Office is responsible for inspecting and placing
a value on properties. The purpose of these valuations is to assist
in determining what the property owner will pay in taxes each year.
The formula is the tax rate multiplied by the assessment value. Other
responsibilities of the Tax Assessor include farmland assessment, property
tax exemption, maintain property records and deeds, defend properties
under tax appeal and inspect all new construction to determine if an
added assessment is warranted.
