Drug Abuse Resistance Education (DARE) 5th grade

The Egg Harbor Township Police Department has been providing DARE for over 30 years.  Every officer who instructs the DARE curriculum must go through an 80 hour comprehensive training program.  Topics discussed in DARE are:  Dangers of vaping, smoking, use of tobacco products, underage/excessive consumption of alcoholic beverages, peer pressure, avoidance techniques, and good decision making.  For the 600+ students in the DARE program, our agency hosts an end of the school year celebration called DARE Day.  DARE Day is at the Joyanne Miller Elementary School.  It consists of a mock motor vehicle pursuit, SWAT demonstration, K9 demonstration, and static displays.  The Egg Harbor Township Volunteer Fire Departments, Egg Harbor Township EMS, New Jersey State Police Aviation Bureau, United States Coast Guard, New Jersey Forest Fire Aviation Unit are also invited to participate in the event.
